I've spent the last day or so reading what all of the liberal pundits have been saying about the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. and how it tells us all that racism is still very much alive "even in a liberal enclave such as Cambridge". Several emotions course through my body as I read these yahoos spout of and wax philosophically about we still haven't conquered racism in America...almost all of the emotions I associate with chronic diarrea.
Of course we haven't conquered racism in America!. We haven't conquered ANY kind of "ism" Socialism, Nazism, Marxism...all of the "isms" have little pockets of resistence still fighting here and there. Hell! even Polio is making a comeback!
Henry Louis Gates was arrested because he was a black man...but not in the way that the liberal pundits would have us believe. Nope, Henry Louis Gates Jr was arrested because, even though he was a Harvard professor, he was still stupid enough to believe that police would only question the bona fides of a black person seen breaking into his own home.
Because he was stupid enough to believe that only a black person who was seen breaking into a home in Cambridge and, upon the arrival of police, claim to be the owner of the home, would be asked to show proof of ownership, launched into a tirade against the police accusing them of racism and claiming that they didn't know who they were dealing with.
Now, most people (black or white) know that when you are being questioned by a police officer (black or white), the proper response, if you are completely innocent, is to comply with a polite request for identification in a polite manner. Any huffing and puffing and throwing of accusations is, more than likely going to earn you a pair of hand cuffs, a duck walk to jail, a delousing, and in extreme cases, a few knots on the head.
That is true REGARDLESS of what color you are and REGARDLESS of what color the policeman is and REGARDLESS of what the Keith Olbermanm, Bill Mahr, Jon Stewart, or most of The View would have you believe!
What the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. REALLY tells us is that, even though the vast majority of Americans have conquered racism in America and even though a mostly white America has elected a black president...what ISN'T dead in America and what WON'T die unless we stop feeding it is the politics of victimhood.
Even if the arresting officer acted in a racially-motivated manner, that is NOT an indication that racism is still "very much alive" in America. One white person acting stupidly (and I don't believe he did) does not give license to every liberal pundit and every black victimhood monger like Al Sharpton to beat the rest of us over the head about it!
To do so marks them as bigots and hypocrites of the highest order and its high time somebody started holding their collective feet to the fires that they have been stoking!
